Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp. butter or oleo
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. hot water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • about 5 c. flour

Directions

    Melt butter, sugar and salt in hot water.

    Add beaten egg. Melt yeast in warm water and add flour, 1 cup at a time, until a stiff dough is achieved.

    Dump onto floured pastry cloth or board. Knead until elastic.

    Put in bowl with little oil, turn to coat. Cover, let rise until doubled in size.

    Knead to get air out. Make out into rolls.

    Place on greased pans, brush with melted butter.

    Let rise until doubled in size.

    Bake at 450° until golden brown.
