Root Beer Spiced Apples

8 ingredients
4 steps

Ingredients

  • 4 whole Granny Smith Apples (peeled, Cored, And Sliced)
  • 1/3 cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoons Cloves, Ground
  • 1/4 teaspoons Nutmeg, Ground
  • 2/3 cups Root Beer
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoons Water

Directions

  1. 1
First prepare your apples by peeling them, removing the core, and slicing. I cut my apples into 1/16ths but you can cut into whatever size and shape you like.
  2. 2
In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, spices and root beer. Whisk until combined. Heat over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil, then add the apples. Boil for about 1 minute, and then reduce heat to low and simmer the apples another 5 or 6 minutes until apples reach desired tenderness. Remove the apples from the saucepan using a slotted spoon and set aside in serving dish.
  3. 3
In a separate bowl, add the cornstarch into roughly 1/2 teaspoon of water and mix until it forms a paste. Add the paste to the remaining rootbeer mixture and stir over medium heat until the glaze begins to thicken. Pour the desired amount of glaze over the apples in the serving dish, and enjoy!

Note: you can use this rootbeer glaze on pork as well.
