  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 Tbsp. rum flavoring
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

    Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs, one at a time beating and mixing thoroughly.

    Sift flour, salt, soda and baking powder; add buttermilk and rum flavoring.

    Add vanilla.

    Pour into tube pan and bake at 325° for 1 hour or until done.
