- 1 c. salted butter
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. confectioners sugar
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- fruit preserves or nuts
Directions

1In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar using electric mixer. Add vanilla, scraping down bowl as needed.

2Add flour and salt, mixing until thoroughly combined.

3Roll tablespoons of dough into small balls about 1-inch in diameter.

4Place dough balls on lightly greased cookie sheet about 1-inch apart.

5Press down the center of each ball with a spoon, forming a depression.

6Fill each with a teaspoonful of preserves or nuts.

7Bake in 325° oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

8Transfer cookies immediately to a cool, flat surface.

9When cookies are completely cool, dust with confectioners sugar.

10Yields 2 dozen.
