  • 1 cup finely chopped onion

  • 4 teaspoons chicken base
  • fresh ground black pepper
  • 8 saffron threads (optional)
  • 2 cups short-grain rice, rinsed
  • 1 cup chopped thin green beans
  • 1 cup frozen peas
