  • 3 1/2 slices bread, cut in half
  • 3/8 c. sugar or to taste
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • black pepper
  • 3 c. thick part canned tomatoes

Directions

    Put bread in bottom of a 6 1/2 x 10-inch dish.

    Cover with tomatoes. Sprinkle sugar on tomatoes. Dot with butter.

    Sprinkle black pepper over all. Bake in oven until brown at 500°.
