- 3 1/2 slices bread, cut in half
- 3/8 c. sugar or to taste
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- black pepper
- 3 c. thick part canned tomatoes
Directions

1Put bread in bottom of a 6 1/2 x 10-inch dish.

2Cover with tomatoes. Sprinkle sugar on tomatoes. Dot with butter.

3Sprinkle black pepper over all. Bake in oven until brown at 500°.
