- 2 slices bacon
- 1 lb. string beans
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 c. tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 c. hot water
Directions

1Dice the bacon; fry until crisp.

2Slice onion; fry until soft. Cut the beans into small, 1-inch pieces; brown them slightly with the bacon and onion.

3Add the tomatoes, seasonings and boiling water; cover and cook very slowly until beans are tender.

4Add more water, if necessary, so there will be a little sauce to serve with the beans.
