Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 cups all purpose flour more as needed

Directions

    In medium mixing bowl, soften butter slightly by creaming.

    Stir in sugar, salt and egg yolk.

    Add flour, a little at a time, until mixture is too stiff to work with a spoon.

    Turn out onto floured board and knead lightly, blending in more flour until dough begins to crack.

    Divide dough into 3 portions and pat into 6-inch circles on ungreased baking sheets.

    Pinch edges and prick all over with fork.

    Bake in 325 F. oven about 30 minutes or until pale golden brown.
