Sesame Toffee Bars

Ingredients
- 1/4 c. sesame seed
- 1 c. margarine
- 1 c. dark brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 c. finely chopped or ground nuts
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
Directions

1Toast sesame seed in 350° oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

2Cream butter and sugar.

3Add egg and vanilla and mix well. Stir in nuts.

4Sift flour with spices and add to creamed mixture. Mix well.

5Spread 1/4-inch thick onto a 13 x 15-inch baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.

6While baking, melt chocolate pieces in double boiler over hot water.

7Spread chocolate over baked cookies while hot.

8Sprinkle top with sesame seed and cut into bars while warm.

9Makes 4 dozen cookies.
