- 2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 stick oleo
- 4 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 c. water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
Directions

1Place sugar and flour in a bowl.

2Mix well.

3In saucepan, bring shortening, oleo, cocoa and water to a rapid boil.

4Remove from heat and pour over sugar and flour, mixing well. Add remaining ingredients, mixing well.

5Pour into greased 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

6About 5 minutes before cake is done, prepare the frosting and ice cake while it is hot.
