- 4 c. sifted flour
- 1 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 lb. butter or margarine, softened
Directions

1Mix the flour and brown sugar together thoroughly.

2Add the butter and work in until a smooth dough is formed.

3Turn onto a lightly floured surface and pat to 1/2-inch thickness.

4(Dough is easier to handle when chilled.)

5Cut dough into desired shapes and transfer to cookie sheets.

6Bake at 325° for about 25 minutes or until very delicately browned.

7Remove sheets to cooling racks for 5 minutes before transferring cookies to racks to cool thoroughly. Makes 3 to 4 dozen cookies.
