Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 3 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 1 lb. can tomatoes
  • 8 oz. tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire
  • dash of Tabasco
  • 2 tsp. cornstarch
  • 12 oz. clean, raw shrimp
  • 1/2 c. green pepper, chopped
  • cooked rice

Directions

    Cook onion, celery and garlic in oil until tender, but not brown.

    Add tomatoes and next 6 ingredients.

    Simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes.

    Mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon cold water and stir into the sauce.

    Cook and stir until mixture bubbles.

    Add shrimp and green pepper.

    Cover and simmer until done, about 5 minutes.

    Serve over cooked rice.
