  • 4 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cup shortening
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp lemon extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon

    Medium bowl, stir flour, baking powder, baking soda, & salt

    Large bowl beat shortening, sugar, eggs, vanilla & lemon extract

    Alternating flour, & buttermilk, shortening.

    Cover & chill for 4 hrs

    Preheat oven 375, small bowl combine the 1/2 cup sugar & cinnamon.

    Lightly grease cookie sheet set aside: each cookie use a 1/4 cup or 1/4 ice cream scoop.

    Roll each scoop of dough in the sugar cinnamon mixture 2 coat.

    Place 3 in apart on cookie sheet.

    with the palm of ur hand, gently press cookie 1/2 inch thickness.

    Bake for 12-14 mins or until bottoms are golden.

    Transfer to wire racks; cool.

    The cookies bake more evenly if you bake one batch @ a time.
