Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

    In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients, except vanilla.

    Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved and butter is melted.

    Continue cooking, without stirring, until candy thermometer reads 248 degrees or firm ball stage.

    Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.

    Pour into well-buttered 13x9 pan.

    Cool completely.

    Cut into 1x1-1/2 pieces.

    After cutting, wrap each caramel in cellophane wrap or plastic wrap.
