  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 4 to 6 c. all-purpose flour

    Cream sugar and shortening.

    Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Combine

    Mix alternately with buttermilk to the

    Chill overnight, then place on floured surface

    roll about 1/4 inch thickness.

    Cut out with holiday cookie cutters and sprinkle with sugar.
