  • FOR THE COOKIES:
  • 1 cup Butter, Softened
  • 3/4 cups Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 teaspoons Almond Extract
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Cream Of Tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 1/4 teaspoons Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
  • FOR THE FROSTING:
  • 1/4 cups Butter, Softened
  • 3 cups Confectioners Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Almond Extract
  • 6 Tablespoons Hot Water
  • Food Coloring (optional)

    1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

    2. For the cookies, in a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, vanilla, and almond extract.

    3. In a medium-sized bowl, combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg; gradually add to creamed mixture.

    4. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until light brown. Cool on wire racks.

    5. For the frosting, combine butter, sugar, almond extract, and enough water to reach desired consistency. If desired, tint with food coloring. Frost cooled cookies.
