- 2 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 2/3 c. lukewarm water
- fat for frying
Directions

1Stir together flour, baking powder and salt.

2Cut in shortening until mixture resembles cornmeal.

3Gradually add water, stirring with fork.

4Dough will be crumbly.

5Turn out on a floured surface; knead until smooth and form into ball.

6Divide in half.

7Let dough stand 10 minutes.

8Roll each half into 12 1/2 x 10-inch rectangle. Cut into 2 1/2-inch squares.

9Do not roll or repatch!

10Fry each in deep fryer until golden brown.
