- 1 1/2 c. Sourdough Starter
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 5 to 6 c. all-purpose flour
Directions

1Scald milk, stir in sugar, salt and margarine.

2Cool to lukewarm.

3Put warm water in large bowl.

4Sprinkle in yeast and stir until dissolved.

5Add milk mixture, starter and 2 1/2 cups flour.

6Mix until smooth.

7Add enough flour to make a stiff dough. Turn onto floured board.

8Knead until smooth and elastic.

9Place in greased bowl and cover.

10Let rise until double in size (about 1 hour).

11Punch dough down, divide into 3 equal parts.

12Form each piece into a roll.

13Place in loaf pans with sharp knife.

14Cut dough in a crisscross fashion on top.

15Cover and let rise until double in size.

16Bake at 400° for 25 minutes.
