  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 eggs beaten
  • 4 c. buttermilk
  • 1/3 c. bacon drippings
  • 1 c. cracklings

    Combine cornmeal, soda, and

    salt. Mix well. Stir in beaten eggs and milk. Heat bacon drippings

    pan until hot. Add drippings and cracklings to batter. Mix well. Pour into hot pan. Bake at 450° for 25 minutes until bread is golden. Cut in squares. Makes 15 to 20 servings.
