Southern Pecan Pie

  • 3 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. white Karo syrup
  • 4 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 c. or more chopped pecans
  • 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
  • dash of salt
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell (homemade or frozen)

Directions

    Combine first 7 ingredients, making sure to add melted butter last so that if it is hot, it will not cook eggs.

    Pour into unbaked pie shell and bake in 350° oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Center of pie should shake slightly when it is done but it will firm up as it cools.
