Ingredients

  • 1/2 bushel tomatoes, cook and strain like juice
  • 2 c. Crisco oil
  • 3 lb. onions, ground
  • 5 hot peppers, ground
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. basil
  • 2 Tbsp. oregano
  • 8 small cans tomato paste or 4 large ones

    After you make your tomato juice (makes about 8 quarts), mix everything together and heat to a boil and let simmer 1 hour.

    Seal in jars.

    Makes about 11 to 12 quarts.
