Spaghetti Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 to 1/2 lb. Italian sausage (if desired)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/2 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 can mushrooms (juice and all)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. each spice: oregano, garlic, basil, parsley, marjoram and fennel
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 can peeled tomatoes, chopped or 5 to 6 medium sized frozen tomatoes

Directions

    Cook ground beef and Italian sausage along with the onion until browned, then drain off fat.

    Add rest of the ingredients.

    Begin making the sauce the night before and then refrigerate or make early in the day before serving it.

    Simmer on low, adding water or more tomato sauce as needed, so that it does not burn.

    Serve over pasta.
