Speed-Easy Yeast Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. sweet milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 2 1/2 c. self-rising flour

Directions

    To sweet milk add egg and mix with yeast and sugar dissolved in warm water.

    Cut shortening into flour.

    Mix flour and liquid to form soft dough.

    Knead gently on well floured board.

    Form dough into small balls 3/4-inch in diameter.

    Place 3 balls in each greased muffin cup.

    Brush generously with melted butter. Cover with towel and allow to rise for 2 hours at room temperature until double in size.

    Bake at 400° for 10 to 15 minutes.
