  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 500 g lean ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 12 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 12 cup tomato paste
  • 1 cup water or 1 cup stock
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • salt

Directions

    Heat oil in a large pan over medium high heat; add onion and garlic and cook, stirring frequently for 2-3 minutes or until softened.

    Add mince in small batches and cook until browned and crumbly.

    Stir in spices and cook until spices are fragrant.

    Add tomato paste into mince and mix well.

    Add water or stock and bring to the boil; reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
