  • 1/2 c. each: chopped celery and onions
  • 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1/8 tsp. each: ground allspice and cinnamon
  • salt and black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 3 c. cooked rice
  • 1/2 c. raisins, plumped
  • 1 tart cooking apple, cored and chopped
  • 1/2 c. sliced almonds, toasted

Directions

    In a large skillet, cook celery and onions in butter until tender-crisp.

    Stir in seasonings, rice and raisins.

    Heat thoroughly.

    Stir in apple; remove from heat.

    Cover and let stand 5 minutes.

    Sprinkle with almonds.
