- 2 1/2 c. walnut halves
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Butter sides of heavy 2-quart saucepan.

2Heat walnuts in moderate oven (375°) for 5 minutes, stirring once.

3Combine sugar, water, salt and cinnamon in heavy saucepan.

4Heat and stir until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to a boil.

5Cook, without stirring, to soft ball stage.

6Remove from heat.

7Beat by hand for 1 minute or until mixture begins to get creamy.

8Add vanilla and warm walnuts.

9Stir gently, until nuts are well coated.

10Turn out on waxed paper; separate with a fork.
