  • 1 lb. squash (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 c. grated cheese

Directions

    Cook squash and onions in salted water until tender.

    Drain. Beat until light.

    Add remaining ingredients, reserving 1/3 of the cheese and bread crumbs for a topping.

    Pour into a buttered casserole dish and top with cheese and crumbs.

    Bake at 350° until cheese melts, and top is light brown.
