St. Louis Cake

  • 1 3/4 c. chocolate chips
  • 3 tsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 4 egg yolks, beaten
  • 4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
  • 1 prepared yellow cake or pound cake
  • 1/2 pt. heavy cream, whipped and sweetened

Directions

    Put chocolate chips in top of a double boiler with sugar, water and beaten egg yolks.

    Stir over heat until thick and melted.

    Take off the heat and cool slightly.
  4. 4
    After it has cooled, add the egg whites.
