- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. light brown sugar
- 1/2 c. dark molasses
- 1 tsp. lemon flavoring
- 1/3 c. buttermilk
- 3 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Cream butter, sugar and molasses.

2Add lemon flavoring to buttermilk.

3Sift flour, salt, spices and soda together.

4Add alternately with the buttermilk to creamed mixture.

5Blend together well.

6Chill for several hours.

7Turn out onto a floured board; roll 1/4-inch thick.

8Cut into 1 1/2 x 2-inch strips. Place on greased baking sheets; bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.
