  • 4 (6 ounce) flat iron steaks
  • 1 14 teaspoons salt, divided
  • 34 teaspoon ground pepper, divided
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 (8 ounce) package mushrooms
  • 12 cup balsamic vinegar

    Clean and slice mushrooms.

    Set aside.

    Rub steaks with 1 t salt and 1/2 t pepper.

    Cook steaks in hot oil in a large skillet over medium high heat for 4-5 minutes per side.

    Let rest on a warming platter (in oven) or near burner.

    Add garlic to the skillet; saute 30 seconds, stirring constantly.

    Add mushrooms and remaining 1/4 t salt and 1/4 t pepper, saute 3 minutes.

    Stir in vinegar; cook for 5 minutes, stiriing frequently.

    Spoon mixture over each steak.
