- 6 c. prepared strawberries (large, tart berries are best)
- 4 1/2 c. sugar
Directions

1Combine prepared whole strawberries and sugar in alternate layers and let stand for 8 to 10 hours or overnight.

2Heat the fruit mixture to boiling, stirring gently.

3Boil rapidly, stirring to prevent sticking.

4Cook until syrup is somewhat thick, 15 to 20 minutes.

5Remove from heat and skim.

6Ladle into hot jars and seal.
