- 1 qt. canned string beans, drained
- 6 slices lean bacon
- 1/3 c. onion, chopped
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 2 c. canned tomatoes
- 1/3 c. chopped green pepper
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. American cheese, shredded
- 1 c. bread crumbs (not spicy)
Directions

1Drain beans; save 1/4 cup of liquid.

2Cut bacon into small pieces; fry until almost crisp.

3Add beans and reserved liquid to bacon; cook for 10 minutes.

4Cook onion and green pepper in butter until tender.

5Add tomatoes; cook until sauce is thick.

6Season. Combine mixtures and pour into greased baking dish.

7Sprinkle with cheese and crumbs.

8Bake at 375° until cheese is melted and crumbs are brown.
