  • 1 lb. loaf Italian bread, cut in 1/2 lengthwise
  • 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz. fresh mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 c. spaghetti sauce
  • 2 oz. Mozzarella cheese, shredded

    In a Dutch oven, brown beef and drain well.

    In same Dutch oven, saute onion and musheroms with garlic and pepper.

    Stir in meat and spaghetti sauce.

    Heat until bubbly.

    Spread meat mixture over both halves of Italian bread and top with cheese.

    Broil 6 inches under low flame for 10 minutes.
