Stuffed Bell Peppers

  • 5 large bell peppers
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp. butter
  • 1 c. Heinz 57 sauce
  • 1/2 lb. ground chuck
  • 2 c. cooked rice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except the bell peppers.

    Wash the peppers well, cut off the tops and clean out the inside.

    Rinse well.

    In a 3-quart boiler, bring 2 quarts of water to a boil.

    Drop the bell peppers into the water for 10 minutes.

    Remove the peppers and place them on a 3-inch deep baking dish.

    Spoon the meat mixture into the peppers.

    Cover with foil.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
