- 12 large cabbage leaves
- 1 1/4 lb. lean ground beef
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. cooked rice
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 c. water
Directions

1Cover cabbage leaves with boiling water for 5 minutes; drain. Combine next 6 ingredients and 1/2 can tomato sauce.

2Place equal amounts of meat in center of leaves.

3Roll up and fasten with toothpick.

4Place in large skillet.

5Stir in remaining sauce, sugar, lemon juice and water.

6Simmer, covered, for 1 hour.

7Makes 6 servings.
