Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

  • 1 lb. ground veal
  • 1 lb. ground pork
  • 3 c. cooked rice
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 2 c. tomato juice, heated

Directions

    Combine veal, pork, rice, sugar, onion, salt and pepper. Separate leaves of cabbage and wilt them by placing in boiling water for a few minutes.

    Drain leaves thoroughly.

    Place about 1/2 cup of the mixture on each cabbage leaf and roll up securely. Place rolls in a baking pan.

    Dot each with butter.

    Pour tomato juice over the rolls.

    Bake at 350° for 1 hour.

    Serves 6.
