Stuffed Onion Leaves

  • 6 onions
  • 1 lb. beef
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/2 c. long grain rice, soaked 1/2 hour in water
  • 3 diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 c. beef broth

Directions

    Broil onions 20 minutes.

    Cut off tops.

    Slice down center side; cut off bottom.

    Separate the onion circles (leaves).

    Mix together beef and next 5 ingredients.

    Add tomatoes (helps cook the rice).

    Hold the onion circles (leaves) open and add small ball of meat mixture; roll onion around the meat.

    Put in frying pan with olive oil; brown bottom 15 minutes.

    Add beef broth. Simmer 45 minutes.
