  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 c. lard
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 Tbsp. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Cream the lard and sugar.

    Add eggs and beat until well mixed. Add buttermilk and then dry ingredients and vanilla.

    Roll and cut out cookies.

    (If batter is too soft, refrigerate until it's a little solid.)

    Bake at 400° until very lightly brown.
