  • 4 c. walnut halves
  • 1 c. sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
  • 1/2 c. margarine

Directions

    Toast nuts in 325° oven until lightly browned.

    Fold sugar and salt into beaten egg whites and beat until soft peaks form. Fold toasted nuts into mixture.

    Melt margarine in 10 x 15 pan (large cookie sheet will work).

    Spread nut mixture over margarine.

    Bake in 325° oven about 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes until nuts are coated with browned meringue mixture and no margarine remains.
