Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 or 2 drops food coloring

Directions

    Stir sugar, water, vanilla and food coloring until sugar is dissolved.

    Bring to a boil.

    Insert a candy thermometer and cook until it registers to 234° (or the soft ball stage).

    During this stage, keep the heat around medium or medium-high.

    When the correct temperature is reached, remove from heat and add butter. Stir well and pour over popped corn (a large bowl will do).

    Stir with a wooden spoon; then turn out onto waxed paper to cool.
