- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 ham hock
- 2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
- 12 small red potatoes
- 1 (.4 ounce) packet dry vegetable soup mix
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
Directions

1Heat the oil and butter in a large pot.

2Place ham hock in the pot, and brown on both sides.

3Reduce heat to low.

4Place green beans and potatoes in the pot, and pour in enough water to cover.

5Mix in soup mix, sugar, and pepper.

6Simmer 1 hour, or until beans and potatoes are tender.

7Remove hock and shred meat into pot before serving.
