- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 3 large eggs
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups yellow cornmeal
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
Directions

1Preheat oven to 400°F

2Butter 13x9x2-inch glass baking dish.

3Beat sugar and butter in large bowl until blended.

4Add eggs and beat until well blended.

5Beat in 2 cups water and cornmeal.

6Sift flour, baking powder and salt into small bowl.

7Add to cornmeal mixture and stir until just blended. So not over mix, batter will be lumpy.

8Transfer batter to prepared pan.

9Bake 35 minutes or until bread is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.

10Transfer dish to rack and cool cornbread slightly.

11Serve warm or at room temperature.
