Ingredients

  • 7 lb. cucumbers, cut crossways
  • 2 c. household lime
  • 1 gal. water
  • 3 pt. apple vinegar
  • 4 lb. sugar (2 1/2 c. to 1 lb.)
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. whole cloves
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 tsp. mixed pickling spice

    Cover pickles with lime water and soak 24 hours.

    Drain and wash.

    Cover with clean water.

    (Do this 3 times.)

    Dry cucumbers well.

    Heat mixture and pour over cucumbers and let stand overnight.

    Next morning bring to boil for 1 hour.

    Add teaspoon salt.
