  • 2 gal. cucumbers, sliced
  • 1 pt. salt
  • alum (size of walnut)
  • 1/2 gal. vinegar
  • 8 pt. sugar
  • 1/4 c. pickling spice, tied up in cheesecloth

Directions

    Put sliced cucumbers in stone jar.

    Add salt to 1 gallon boiling water.

    Pour over cucumbers. Let stand for 1 week. Drain and wash cucumbers.

    Add alum to 1 gallon boiling water. Pour over cucumbers.

    Let stand for 24 hours.
  6. 6
    Drain and wash.
