Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 6 c. flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 stick butter, soft

Directions

    Mix yeast in water with pinch of sugar.

    Let stand until double in size. Combine remainder of sugar, salt and 4 cups of the flour in a large bowl.

    Make a well and drop in eggs, yeast mixture and milk.

    Mix with a spoon. Add butter and more flour. Mix with hands.

    Keep adding flour until able to handle.

    Knead. Put in buttered bowl and let rise until double in size, approximately 2 hours.

    Punch down and allow to rise 15 minutes. Form into desired shapes and let rise approximately 1 hour. Bake at 350° until brown.
