Ingredients
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 lb. round steak, cut 1-inch thick
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 (4 oz.) can mushroom pieces
- 1/2 c. finely chopped onions
- 1/2 c. finely chopped green pepper
- 1 c. tomatoes
- 1 (1 lb.) can whole tomatoes with juice
Directions

1Combine flour with salt and pepper; pound into meat.

2In family skillet, melt shortening over medium heat, about 3 minutes. Do not allow shortening to smoke.

3Brown steak for 5 minutes per side.

4Add mushrooms, onions, green pepper and tomatoes.

5Simmer over low heat, covered, for 1 1/2 hours, or until tender.

6Makes 4 to 6 servings.
