Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz.) bag corn chips, crushed
  • 1 large dry onion, sliced
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 (16 oz.) can chili beans
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 pkg. taco seasoning
  • small head lettuce, chopped
  • 1 large or 2 medium fresh tomatoes
  • 3/4 lb. mild Cheddar

    Saute onion and hamburger.

    Put in beans and tomato sauce. Heat and mix seasoning and simmer.

    Have corn chips crushed in bottom of baking dish (9 x 13-inch).

    I use rolling pin to crush chips while still in bag, poke with pin to let air out.

    Pour mixture over corn chips.

    Have cheese grated.

    Sprinkle over top of mix.

    Let stand a few minutes, then shred lettuce over top and dice tomatoes in chunks over lettuce.

    Serve while hot.
