- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. butter or oleo
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. raisins or currants
- 1/2 c. milk
Directions

1Place flour in a bowl.

2Rub in butter.

3Add baking powder, sugar and raisins; mix well.

4Beat egg and add to milk; reserve 1 tablespoon of the mixture.

5Add remainder to dry ingredients. Knead to make moist dough.

6Turn onto a well floured board; roll 3/4-inch thick.

7Cut into 2-inch rounds with biscuit cutter or inverted glass.

8Arrange on slightly floured baking sheet.

9Brush tops with reserve egg mixture.

10Bake at 425° until risen and lightly browned, about 25 minutes.

11Let cool.

12Avoid overbaking.
