  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 3 1/2 c. self-rising flour
  • 3 c. sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 tsp. vanilla

    Beat eggs and shortening together.

    Add sugar, alternately adding flour and milk.

    Add vanilla.

    Grease as many cake pans as you have.

    Place about 2 big dipping spoonfuls of batter in each pan and cook at 350° for about 10 minutes or until done.

    Layer will be thin.

    Make icing ahead and stack and ice as the layers come from the oven.

    Re-grease pans each time you use.
