  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup Crisco oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 5 tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. soda powder
  • 1 stick butter
  • 5 tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 box sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped

    Preheat oven to 375F.

    Mix together flour, sugar and 1/2 tsp.

    salt; set aside.

    Put butter, crisco, water, and cocoa in saucepan.

    Bring to a boil and remove from heat.

    Mix in flour mixture.

    Add sour cream, eggs slightly beaten, dash salt, vanilla and baking soda.

    Pour into greased and floured pan.

    Bake in 11x16-inch sheetpan 15-20 minutes.

    Icing: After cake has baked 10 minutes start icing using same saucepan.

    Mix together butter, cocoa and milk; bring to a boil and remove from heat.

    Add powered sugar, vanilla, and chopped nuts.
